Question : Jan Aushadhi Kendras in Backward Districts

(a) whether the Government has taken any steps for setting up Jan Aushadhi Kendras for the poor people of backward districts of Hardvi, Sitapur and Kanpur city falling under the Misrikh Parliamentary Constituency of Uttar Pradesh, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has received requests from the public representatives in this regard;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), the implementing agency of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) has taken various steps for expanding the reach of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It has entered an MoU on 10.08.2017 with the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh for opening of 1,000 PMBJKs. It has recently issued Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting applications for opening of PMBJKs in 265 districts in the country where the reach of the scheme is low, including 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Further, the Department of Pharmaceuticals and PMBI send letters at various levels regularly to all the State Governments, including the State of UP for expediting opening of PMBJKs.

Presently, there are about 1,177 PMBJKs in the state of Uttar Pradesh as on 05.12.2021, of which 46 PMBJKs are functional in Hardoi, Sitapur and Kanpur districts. The details of functional PMBJKs in these three districts are as under:
