(a) The number of new branch post offices / sub post offices proposed to be opened in Orissa particularly in Jaipur and Kendrapara districts during 2000 - 2001 are given district - wise in Annexure `A` .
(b) The steps taken / proposed to be taken by the Government for improvement in postal services including modernisation of postal / mail offices in the State are given in Annexure `B` .

Steps taken / proposed to be taken by the Government for improvement in Postal Services including modernisation of Postal / Mail Offices in Orissa
(a) Steps Taken to Modernise the Offices
1. 46 post offices and 7 mail offices have been modernised upto 31-3-2000
2. 32 Extended Satellite Money Order Stations have been installed upto 31-3-2000.
3. 6 VSATs have been installed upto 31-2-2000.
4. 3 Computerised Registration Centres and one Transit Mail Office have been computerised upto 31-3-2000.
(b) Steps Proposed To Be Taken During Current Financial Year
1. Bolangir, Keonjhar, Koraput, Khurda and Sundargarh Head Post Offices and Bhadrak RMS & Jajpur Road RMS have been proposed for modernisation during the current financial year.
2. 46 multi Purpose counter Machines are proposed to be installed in post offices in Orissa.
3. 6 offices proposed for total computerisation.
