Question : Funds for Teacher Training

(a) the details of funds allocated by the Government for imparting training to teachers to provide education for all during the last three years, State/UT-wise;

(b) the number of teachers who have been imparted training from the said fund during the last three years, State/UT-wise;

(c) whether the Government has conducted any investigation on its own into the cases of teachers being trained only in paper;

(d) if so, the details thereof during the last three years; and

(e) the action taken /proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard at the Central level and the outcome thereof along with the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) & (b): The Central Government, under the flagship programmes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) provides funding to State and UT Governments to improve Elementary and Secondary education respectively. Provision for in-service teacher training is an integral component of both the SSA and RMSA programmes. The State-wise details of funds allocated by the Government for imparting training to teachers to provide education and number of teachers who have been imparted training from the said fund during the last three years under SSA and RMSA, are at Annexure-I and Annexure –II, respectively.

(c) to (e): No investigation has been conducted in respect of teachers being trained only in paper, however progress of teacher training is being monitored through Quarterly Progress Reports received from States and UTs year wise. States and UTs have been instructed to make teacher training need based and conduct teacher training as per Project Approval Board (PAB) approvals.
