Out of this, Improvement/Widening to 2 lane for the stretch from km. 0 to Km. 40 has been sanctioned for Rs. 146.76 Cr and contract awarded. For the remaining stretch from km. 40 to 216.5 km, work for Improvement/Widening has been sanctioned under World Bank funded National Highway Interconnectivity Improvement Project (NHIIP) for an amount of Rs. 700 Cr and award of work is in process. In the meantime, some stretches of NH 104 which are presently in bad condition is proposed to be taken up for maintenance, under periodical renewal programme of 2014-15.

The length of National Highway No. 105 in Bihar is 53.76 km. Improvement/Widening of entire stretch has been sanctioned in two packages under Special Projects and work are in the progress. The progress in these projects is slow due to delay in forest clearance for which the matter is being pursued at different levels.

Apart from the normal budgetted projects and corridor based programmes, the National Highways in Mithilanchal and North Bihar are being developed through various programmes like National Highway development project (NHDP on different phases), NHIIP under World Bank funding etc.
