Question : Status of Rail Projects

(a) the status of the progress on Balaghat, Nainpur, Jabalpur and Katangi, Tirodi broad-gauge construction work;

(b) whether the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for forest and Environment clearance for the aforesaid broad gauge construction work has been received;

(c) if so, the time by which the construction work is likely to be completed; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): On this project, Gondia-Balaghat including MOIL Limited siding (43 Km) and Balaghat- Katangi (47 Km) sections have been completed and commissioned. On Nainpur-Jabalpur (113 Km) section, earthwork, bridges and ROBs/RUBs have been taken up. Work in Balaghat-Nainpur section (75 Km) has been suffering for want of forestry/wildlife clearance.

(b): Conditional Stage-I approval for diversion of 75.97 hectares of Forest land in Balaghat District has been accorded by Ministry of Environment and Forest in February’2015.

(c)&(d): No time line can be fixed for completion of the project as conditions laid down in ‘Stage-I’ clearance are to be fulfilled by several Departments/Institutions including Wildlife Institute of India (Dehradun), Ministry of Railways, Government of Madhya Pradesh etc.
