Question : VIOLATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL RULES



(a) whether the Union Government has instructed State Governments to identify polluting industries in their respective States :

(b) if so, the details thereof :

(c) the reaction of the State Governments thereto :

(d) whether the Union Government provides any assistance to State Governments to control pollution ;

(e) if so, the details thereof ;

(f) whether the Government proposes to set up environment courts to dispose of such cases ;

(g) if so, the details thereof; and :

(h) the steps taken/ proposed to be taken to ensure compliance of the environment rules?

(a)to(c) A total of 2655 polluting industries have been identified under 17 categories by the State Pollution Control Boards(SPCBs)/Pollution Control Committees(PCCs). Out of these, 2051 have provide adequate pollution control measures, 325 industries have been closed down and 279 are defaulting units.The SPCBs and PCCs are taking necessary action against the defaulting industries.
