Question : Research & Development Activities under KVIC

(a) the details of Research and Development (R&D) activities undertaken in the country especially in North Eastern Region and Uttar Pradesh by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for promotion of Khadi products during the last three years;

(b) whether any tie-up has been made by the KVIC with any National or State Level Institution to organize exhibitions for promotion of Khadi products in North Eastern Region and Uttar Pradesh during the last three years and the current year and if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(c) the details of the schemes to revitalize Khadi sector in Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern Region especially in Tripura?

(a): Details of Research and Development (R&D) activities undertaken by Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in the country including North Eastern Region and Uttar Pradesh for the promotion of Khadi during last three years are placed at Annexure-I.

(b): No tie-up has been made by KVIC with any National or State Level Institution to organize exhibitions in North Eastern Region and Uttar Pradesh during last three years.

(c): To revitalize Khadi Sector all over the country, including Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern Region, KVIC has been implementing Khadi Vikas Yojana (KVY) for the development of Khadi programmes from the year 2019-20 and the guidelines were issued on 08.11.2019, under which financial assistance in the form of grant and subsidy is provided under i) Modified Market Development Assistance (MMDA), ii) Interest Subsidy Eligibility Certificate (ISEC) Scheme, iii) Workshed Scheme for Khadi Artisans, and iv) ‘Assistance for Marketing Infrastructure’ scheme, the last three years performance is placed at Annexure-II.

To ensure genuineness of Khadi, “Khadi Mark” regulation has been notified by Government of India.

In addition, 91 and 7 Khadi Institutions were assisted in Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern Region, respectively under Khadi Reform Development Programme (KRDP), one of the initiatives taken by KVIC for development of Khadi in the country.
