Question : TRAINING TO FARMERS



(a) whether Netherlands propose to train 4800 women farmers of Andhra Pradesh to boost agriculture in the State;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether similar programmes and on-farm extension demonstrations are likely to be extended to other States; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): About 34,000 women farmers from small and marginal households are proposed to be trained during five years under `Andhra Pradesh Training of Women in Agriculture and Allied Sectors` (ANTWA-Phase II) with the assistance of Government of Netherlands to enhance awareness and skill for sustainable agriculture and alternate income-earning opportunities and value addition in agri-products.

(c)&(d): Government of Netherlands have been providing assistance for implementation of `Training of Women in Agriculture` (TWA-Phase II) in twelve districts of Gujarat and in 12 districts of Andhra Pradesh under `Andhra Pradesh Training of women in Agriculture and Allied Sectors` (ANTWA-Phase II). At present there is no new proposal for extending the programme to other States.
