Question : Biometric Identification for Entry into Airport Terminals

(a) whether the Government proposes to introduce biometric identification for allowing entry into the terminals for boarding aircraft, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government is examining the technical feasibility of asking people to give their Aadhar Card numbers at the time of ticket booking, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the biometric processes can do this job without compromising the security, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Hyderabad airport has done a pilot project under the aegis of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government had asked all airport operators such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru to study the pilot project introduced at the Hyderabad airport, if so, the details thereof; and

(f) whether the Government is yet to receive the final report on the biometric identification introduced at the Hyderabad Airport and if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?
