Question : DECREASE IN PRICES OF FERTILIZERS



(a) whether the prices of fertilizers have increased in comparison of support price of sugarcanes;

(b) if so, whether Government propose to increase the support price of sugarcanes or decrease the prices of fertilizers;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not the reasons therefor;

(d) whether the Government proposes to provide more subsidies on chemical fertilizers to provide relief to sugarcane farmers; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not the reasons therefor?

(a)& (b) : The prices of fertilizers have no relation with support price for sugarcane.

(c) : Urea is provided to farmers at a statutory price of Rs. 5360/- (exclusive of taxes etc.). The prices of P&K fertilizers are decontrolled and are fixed by fertilizer companies as per market dynamics. For the last two years the prices of P&K fertilizers remained more or less static. At present there is no proposal to reduce the prices of Urea.

(d) : Subsidy on chemical fertilizers is provided to farmers irrespective of the type of crop grown by them.

(e) : Question does not arise.
