Question : Subsidy on Gas Connection

(a) whether the Government proposes to provide subsidised gas connection to around seven million rural poor in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof indicating the details of such connections that have been provided to the rural poor in the country;
(c) whether the entire subsidy is to be funded by the Central Government and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government has set any target in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the Government is contemplating to allow private companies to sell subsidised LPG and if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN)
(a) to (d) Government of India launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) under which a deposit free LPG connection is provided to an adult woman member of a poor family having no LPG connection subject to fulfilling other terms and conditions. The cash assistance upto ? 1600 per connection under PMUY is borne by the Government of India. As on 01.07.2019, more than 7.30 crore connections have been provided to poor families against the target of 8 crore connections.
(e) There is no such proposal under consideration of the Government.
