(b) if so, the details of the research and the extent to which this helps in cheaper waterproofing solutions; and
(c) the steps taken for commercially exploiting this research?

(a): Yes, Sir. IIT- Hyderabad has developed a method to create super hydrophobic (waterproof) fly-ash based powders using a cheap and scalable approach.
(b): IIT Hyderabad has successfully prepared super hydrophobic fly-ash powders using fly-ash from various sources using stearic acid as a surface modifying agent.
(c): A number of small scale industries as well as multi-national companies have shown interest in this regard.
