Question : INDIANS IN MALAYSIAN JAILS



(a) whether the detained Malaysian Indians have been freed recently;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the number of people of Indian origin who are still languishing in the jails in Malaysia?

(a) to (c): High Commission of India (HCI) in Malaysia has informed that media reports of detaining the activists of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), Human Rights Party (officially not registered as political party in Malaysia) and the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF) a banned organization in Malaysia, by the Malaysian Authorities were noticed. These detained activists were Malaysians of Indian origin. As the detained persons were Malaysian citizens, HCI, Kuala Lumpur is not In a position to seek details from Malaysian Authorities.
