(a) The status of malnutrition, stunting, wasting, anemia among children between 6-59 months and anemia among women and adolescent girls in the age 15-49 years in the country amongst children and adolescent girls is covered under the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) conducted periodically by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The details of status of national level and State of Jharkhand are as under:

District-wise status of Malnutrition and Anaemia of State of Jharkhand is at Annexure. Target of POSHAN Abhiyaan is to reduce the level of stunting, under-weight and low birth weight among children @ 2% per annum and reduce the level of anemia among children, Adolescent girls and women @ 3% per annum.

(b) POSHAN Abhiyaan envisages convergence of various schemes and programmes for addressing malnutrition. The Anganwadi Services, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Scheme for Adolescent Girls schemes of Ministry of Women & Child Development; Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), National Health Mission (NHM) of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare; Swachh Bharat Mission of Ministry of Jal Shakti; Public Distribution System (PDS) of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution; Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) of Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD); are some such schematic interventions. Convergent approach of service delivery in partnership with other partner Ministries i.e. Ministry of Panchayati Raj; Ministry of Tribal Affairs, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare etc is also mandated under POSHAN Abhiyaan. Convergence at State, district and block levels is ensured under the Abhiyaan, through State level Convergence meeting on Quarterly basis with line departments of State chaired by Chief Secretary; District level Convergence meeting with line departments chaired by District Magistrate; and Block level Convergence meeting with line departments chaired by Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
