Question : MAKING COMPUTER TRAINING AS COMPULSORY AT TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE LEVEL.



(a) whether the Government propose to make computer training as compulsory at Teachers Training College level;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(a, b & c) The General Body of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) have resolved that Information Technology may be introduced in B.Ed syllabus. The Council have developed an IT literacy CD-ROM and, to give experience on its use to teacher educators, is organising one day camps in cities where clusters of teacher education institutions exists. The Council have also published a course curriculum and has requested all State Governments, SCERTs and teacher education departments in Universities to take all necessary measures for expeditiously instituting Information Technology course as a part of secondary level teacher education programme.
