(a): whether there is only one tourist office of the Union Government at Khajuraho for Chhatarpur and Madhya Pradesh.

(b): if so, the date on which this office was started, its function and the objectives fixed therefor;

(c): whether the said tourist office is proposed to be closed; and

(d): if so, the details thereof along with its reasons therefor?

(a): There is one Government of India Tourist Office at Khajuraho covering both Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

(b): The Government of India Tourist Office, Khajuraho was opened in the year 1970

The Department of Tourism, Government of India has a network of tourist Offices in India which have been located at important tourist centres frequented by foreign tourists as also domestic tourists who are provided with necessary touristic information and other relevant details in order to enable them to plan their sightseeing tours in a better way and spend the holidays usefully. In addition, these Tourist Offices regulate the requirement of different segments of tourism industry in their respective regions. These Tourist Offices have also been assigned the responsibility of monitoring and follow up of the implementation of tourism projects funded through Central financial assistance.

(c) & (d): No firm proposal has been formulated in this regard so far.
