(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from Karnataka regarding financial assistance under the scheme of promotion and strengthening of regional and local museums and documentation of unprotected and unsung monuments in the State;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken thereon?

(a) to (c) : The proposals from
(i) Karnataka Janapad Parishat, Bangalore,
(ii) National Silk Museum of India, Bangalore, and
(iii) Shankaraa Foundation, Bangalore have been received during the current financial year for consideration of the Expert Committee under the scheme of “Promotion and Strengthening of Regional and Local Museumsâ€. No proposal from State Government of Karnataka for documentation of unprotected and unsung monuments in the state have been received.
As regard the documentation of unprotected and unsung monuments in the state, Archaeological Survey of India proposes to launch a National Mission for Monuments and Antiquities under the Ministry of Culture. The Mission aims to prepare a National Register of Monuments and Antiquities, which will contain documentation of unprotected monuments as well, which will cover State of Karnataka also.
