(a): No, Madam. The truck and bus industry is in the revival mode as this industry has shown some improvement.
(b): Automobile Industry was delicensed in July 1991 with the announcement of the New Industrial Policy. The passenger car was however delicensed in 1993. The norms for foreign investment and import of technology have also been progressively liberalized over the years for vehicles manufacturer including passenger cars in order to make this sector globally competitive. Hence such data is not centrally maintained in the Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India.
However, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has shared the data available with them about Production and Domestic Sales of Truck & Buses during the last three years, as tabulated below:
