Question : Funds Allocated for PDS

(a) the details of the funds sanctioned and incurred for making Public Distribution System (PDS) a success during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and the achievement made so far under the aforesaid schemes;
(b) whether the Government proposes to provide special assistance to the States with more population belonging to below poverty line so as to achieve hundred per cent success of the PDS scheme;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) the details of the amount allocated for consumer affairs in the financial year 2017-18, State and UT-wise; and
(e) the details of the amount allocated for West Bengal in the financial year, 2017-18?

(a) States are allocated food grains at subsidized rates under Targeted Public Distribution Scheme (TPDS), National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) and other Welfare Schemes. The funds allocated for this purpose are disbursed fully every year to States.

(d) & (e) An amount of Rs.145138.60 crore has been allocated for the financial year 2017-18. Out of sanctioned budget allocation, funds are released to various States for quantity of food grains procured and distributed by them under TPDS, NFSA and other Welfare Schemes.
