Question : Syllabus for Madrassa

(a) whether it is a fact that Bihar State on developmental parameters, has shown a commendable initiative in adopting a modern and mainstream syllabus for its Madrasas run by the Bihar Madrassa Education Board and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Bihar Madrassa Board that has over 4000 Madrassas affiliated to it, including 1942 Government aided ones, with more than 15 lakhs students on roll, proposes to equip the students to choose from Science, Arts and Commerce after class 10 to compete with the world and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the Board has adopted SCERT and NCERT textbooks and more than 10,000 teachers given online training during Covid-19 Lockdown and if so, the details thereof?

Based on the information received from the State Government of Bihar, the following is the reply:
(a): Bihar State Madrassa Education Board has adopted the syllabus developed by SCERT for elementary classes and for secondary and senior secondary classes, NCERT syllabus has been adopted to bring the students in mainstream specially for school based subjects.
(b): The Bihar State Madrassa Education Board having 4000 affiliated Madrassas including 1942 Government aided Madrassas has taken an initiative to educate students of Madrassas mainstream subjects like Science & Technology in order to increase their knowledge. According to the new syllabus, students of Madrassas are encouraged to choose subjects like Science, Arts, Commerce after Class 10th in the senior secondary classes.
(c): To bring the students of Madrassas in mainstream, the students are provided textbooks developed by SCERT and NCERT respectively. During the COVID-19 period, online training based on learning outcomes developed by SCERT, Bihar has been provided to about 10,000 Madrassa teachers.
