(a) whether the problem of pollution can be minimised by using electric automobiles in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any guidelines have been issued to States/UTs to promote the use of electric vehicles; and

(a) to (d) There are multiple causes for pollution and vehicular pollution is one of the causes. The electric vehicles have zero on-road emission. The problem of pollution can be minimised by using electric automobiles in the country. Efficiency of electric vehicles in terms of energy usage is higher than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Ministry has issued an advisory dated 17th July, 2019 to all States and Union Territories to promote use of electric vehicles which is available on website of this Ministry (morth.nic.in).
