Question : National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has closed down the National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau (NNMB), if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(b) whether the Government has made any alternative arrangements to fulfil the purpose of assessing nutrition deficiency among the different sections of the population in view of the closure of the NNMB; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau (NNMB) has been closed down w.e.f 31st October 2015 as recommended by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

(b) & (c): There are various existing agencies which are doing surveys to assess health and nutrition studies in different section of population such as National Family Health Survey, Annual Health Survey and District Level Household Survey. National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad also conducted research on nutrition and nutrition deficiency.
