(a) The Union Government, in August 2017, approved the proposal to complete the balance works of North Koel Reservoir Project in Jharkhand and Bihar at an estimated expenditure of Rs.1,622.27 crore to be incurred during three financial years from the start of the project.
(b) The fund released to the project till date is Rs. 721.22 crore.
(c) There is 10% progress on Dam & Appurtenant works, 95% on Barrage and 75% on Left Main Canal.
(d) The progress of works at the project has been affected due to several reasons like time taken in requisite clearance from Forest Department of Government of Jharkhand, agitation by the local villagers at the dam site and time taken by the Government of Bihar for concurrence of works to be carried out in Bihar portion.
(e) A Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) under the chairmanship of Member (WP&P), CWC, New Delhi has been constituted to monitor the completion of the balance works of the project. Besides, the progress of the project is regularly monitored in DoWR, RD & GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
