Question : Salary of Doctors under NRHM

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware that salaries of the doctors constitute a major portion of the total health spending of States, if so, the details thereof, State/ UT-wise;

(b) the amount given to the States of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scheme from 2015, year-wise and the total number of NRHM health centres, district-wise; and

(c) the details of salary paid to doctors both MBBS & BDS appointed under NRHM in these two N.E. States and whether the salary is comparable to salary paid to such doctors in other States, if so, the details thereof?

(a): The Government is aware that salaries of human resources engaged by Health & Family Welfare Department in the States constitute a significant proportion of the health expenditure by State Governments.
A Statement indicating expenditure on Human Resources as a percentage of total Government health expenditure in respect of some of the States is enclosed at Annexure-I. Information on expenditure on salaries of doctors is not available.

(b): The amount given to the States of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim under NHM for 2015-16 and 2016-17 is as follows:

Public Health being a State subject, salaries of doctors vary from state to state and salaries approved under the NHM/NRHM are based on the proposals from the State Government.
