Question : HEALTH CARE CENTRES



(a) the details of hospitals and dispensaries set up by the Railways in the country during the last three years and the current year, Zone –wise;

(b) whether the Railways propose to set up more dispensaries in the country;

(c) if so, the details and the present status thereof;

(d) whether any Memorandum of Understandings has been signed by the Railways with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for setting up health care facilities on vacant railway land; and

(e) if so, the details thereof including the present status of the proposal and the time-frame fixed for operationalisation of health care facilities for the benefit of railway employees?

(a) to (e) : A Statement is laid on the Table of the House.

STATEMENT REFFERED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF STARRED QUESTION NO.257 BY SHRIMATI KOTHAPALLI GEETHA TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 24.07.2014 REGARDING HEALTH CARE CENTRES

(a) : (1) One dispensary each at Jaipur and Jagatpura over North Western Railway

(2) One Health Unit at Chandigarh over Northern Railway

(3) 60 bedded Divisional Hospital at Agra over North Central Railway and

(4) 25 bedded Divisional Hospital at Ranchi over South Eastern Railway have became operational during the period of last three years.

(b) & (c): Yes, Madam. A proposal for setting up of a Health Unit at Katra over Northern Railway is under process.

(d): Yes, Madam. Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) for setting up of health care facilities on Railway land near Railway stations and terminals has been signed between Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Railways on 05.02.2010.

(e) : Under the above initiative, land is to be provided by Ministry of Railways. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will develop facilities for the benefit of common people living in those areas, passengers and railway employees. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has identified 11 locations on Pilot Project basis for setting up Out Patient Department (OPD) and Diagnostic Centres and has appointed M/s IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation for carrying out the feasibility studies for development of the health care facilities on Railway land near Railway stations and terminals as per the MOU signed between two ministries. They will carry out the Technical and Financial assessment for the select locations and advise Ministry of Health & Family Welfare about the suitable locations and specific model for the health care facilities to be developed there.
