Question : Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas

(a) whether Indian National Oil and Gas Companies such as ONGC Videsh, IOCL,
BPCL and HPCL undertake exploration and production of oil and gas outside
India?
(b) if so, the oil and gas fields in which our national oil and gas companies have
invested including the name of the country where these oil and gas fields are
located?
(c) the details of production statistics from these oil and gas fields for the last five
years.
(d) whether our National Oil and Gas companies have made any acquisitions of
foreign owned entities in these markets to aid their exploration activities and if so,
the details thereof ?

(a) & (b): Yes sir. Indian Public Sector Oil and Gas companies, till August 2020,
have acquired stakes in overseas oil & gas assets in 25 countries. The details of
their overseas assets is at Annexure-I.
(c): The production from overseas assets during the last 5 years is as under:

(d): Indian Oil and Gas companies have been periodically acquiring Participating
Interest (PI) in the overseas’ oil and gas assets, with a view to, inter alia, enhancing
the country’s energy security. The details of such acquisitions are provided in
