Question : NEW INSTITUTIONS ENGINEERING COLLEGES

(a) the number of new institutions/engineering colleges approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in the country during the last three years and the current year, State and year-wise;

(b) the present status of pending cases/ requests for setting up of such institutes during the above period, State-wise;

(c) whether the norms laid down for recognition/ approval have been violated by AICTE; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and action taken by the Government in such cases?

(a): The total number of new institutions/ engineering colleges approved by the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) in the country during the last three years and the current year, State and year-wise is at Annexure.

(b): No cases/requests for setting up of new institutes during the above period are pending with the AICTE.

(c) & (d): The norms laid down for recognition/ approval and establishment of new institutions in the Approval Process Handbook have been followed by AICTE while granting recognition/ approval to the institutions during the above period.
