Question : Solar Power Plants at Stations

(a) whether the Government has been establishing solar power plants at all the railway stations in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the number of railway stations so far identified for installation of Solar Power Plants; particularly in the State of Andhra Pradesh; and
(d) the progress thereof as on date?

(a) to (d) Indian Railways (IR) provides solar plants at Railway stations based on techno-economic feasibility and viability. IR has plans to progressively provide solar power plants at more number of railway stations. So far, 1949 Railway stations across the country have been identified for provision of rooftop solar plants including 167 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh. Out of these identified Railway stations, 1141 Railway stations have been provided with rooftop solar plants including 93 railway stations in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
