Question : RELAXATION IN RECRUITMENT RULES FOR COMPASSIONATE APPOINTMENT



(a) whether compassionate appointments to the dependents of deceased and invalid Government servants under the scheme of recruitment in relaxation of Normal Rules, now restricted to 5% of the total vacancies made by direct recruitment, is practically denied to all the applicants, in view of the ban on recruitment and the policy of down-sizing the Government, and the departments, refuse to consider the applications on flimsy or non-existent grounds;

(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(c) the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a),(b)&(c): As per the Government policy on the subject, compassionate appointments are to be made by Administrative Departments in deserving cases subject to availability of vacancies in Group `C` & `D` within 5% of the direct recruitment vacancies to be filled in each year and there is no ban on compassionate appointments in the Government of India.
