Question : Employment of IT Graduates

Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:

(a) the number of recently employed graduates of Information Technology in Information Technology industry in the country;

(b) whether this number has increased/decreased during the last three years;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) the number of women employees therein;

(e) whether the employment opportunities are likely to increase for graduates of Information Technology in Information Technology industry in the coming years; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (f): As per National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) estimates for FY2019-20, Information Technology (IT) industry employs over 43 lakh people in the country which includes IT graduates also. In the last 3 years, the net addition of employees has been consistently increasing from 39.7 lakhs in FY2017-18 to 43 lakhs in FY2019-2020 which is indicative of the growing employment opportunities in the sector. Further, out of the total employee base of Indian Information Technology industry, over 35% are women.
