Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION(PROF. K.V. THOMAS)

(a): There has been marginal increase in prices of agricultural implements during the last one year.

(b): Agricultural implements are of wide varieties and sizes.A large number of manufacturers in both organized and unorganized sectors located across the country are involved in manufacturing of these implements. The prices of agricultural implements also vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and also from state to state depending upon the demand and supply situation, proximity to manufacturers purchase power of buyers etc. Thus, it is difficult to compare the prices of agricultural implements at the national level. However,it can be stated that on an average, the prices of Cultivators, Disc plough, Zero till seed drill, Straw combine etc. have marginally increased during the last one year.

(c): The Ministry of Agriculture does not regulate the prices of agricultural implements/instruments.However,to lessen the burden on farmers and to promote mechanization, it has been providing subsidy under various schemes for procurement of different agricultural implements.
