MINISTER OF STATE FOR ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRI BABU LAL MARANDI)
(a) Yes Sir.
(b),(c) & (d) Rejection of tiger cubs by the mother tigress is quite common in the wild. In the instant case the tigress rejected three new born cubs. The cubs died subsequently. Efforts to save one cub through hand rearing did not succeed. Since, every effort was made by the zoo staff to save the cubs, the question of any inquiry for fixing of the responsibility for the death of cubs does not arise.
