(a) Yes, Sir. A workshop was held on 29-08-2005 in collaboration with the Wildlife
Institute of India at New Delhi for sensitizing the Principal Chief Conservator of
Forests and (iiief Wildlife Wardens of States and Field Directors of Tiger Reserves
and other officials from States involved in wildlife conservation, regarding the
enhanced methodology adopted for All India Estimation of tigers, large carnivores,
ungulates and habitat status, evaluation and monitoring.
(b)&(c)Yes Sir. A bilingual field guide (in English and Hindi) containing
datasheets for iield data collection pertaining to tiger, leopard and other
carnivores, sign encounter rate, data collection from line transacts, sampling
of vegetation, human disturbance and ungulate pellets, including identification
of major ungulate species, tracks of major carnivores and fecal pellets of wild
animals was provided to participants
(d) The names of tiger inhabitated States from where officials participated in
the workshop are at Annexure-I.
(e) The tiger estimation figures pertaining to the last All India Estimation, as
received from States, are at Annexure-II.
