Question : Renewable Energy Generation Projects


(a) whether the Government proposes to enhance renewable energy generation from sources like green hydrogen;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government also proposes to come up with renewable energy generation projects in Delhi, and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b) Green hydrogen is a clean energy carrier produced from renewable energy sources, and can be utilized in industry, transport and energy storage.

In her Budget Speech on 1 February 2021, the Finance Minister announced the launch of a Hydrogen Energy Mission in 2021-22 for generating Hydrogen from green power sources. Accordingly, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as drafted a National Hydrogen Energy Mission document which would inter-alia aim to scale up Green Hydrogen production and utilization across multiple sectors and circulated it for comments of stakeholder Ministries.

(c)&(d) MNRE, under phase II of the Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Programme, has allocated central financial assistance to power distribution companies of Delhi towards implementation of aggregate 31.5 MW capacity of grid connected rooftop solar projects in the residential sector.

Under PM-KUSUM Scheme, a cumulative capacity of 62 MW has been sanctioned in NCT of Delhi under Component-A for installation of grid-connected solar power plants of capacity up to 2 MW. Further, under Component-C of the Scheme, solarization of a total quantity of 550 nos. of existing grid-connected agricultural pumps has been sanctioned.

In addition, one Waste-to-Energy plant of 25 MW at Tehakhand is under implementation with funding from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
