Question : Amendment in Major Port Trust Act

(a) whether the Government proposes to amend the Major Port Trust Act, 1963 so as to modernize its institutional structure and secure greater operational freedom for the ports;
(b) if so, the details of the provisions amended/likely to be amended in the said Act;
(c) whether the Government has received Detailed Project Report (DPR) from Kolkata Port Trust for developing rail-cum-road connectivity for Sagar Island deep sea port, and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the follow-up action taken thereon?
