Question : Development of Tourism in NER

(a) the details of the places in Assam presently covered under the North-East Circuit;
(b) the total amount allotted to develop the tourism sector in North-East especially in Assam during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise including Assam;
(c) the further steps taken/being taken by the Government to develop the tourism sector of North-East, especially Assam; and
(d) the measures taken by the Government to include the North-East in various websites related to tours and travels?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Tourism under its schemes of Swadesh Darshan- Integrated development of theme based tourist circuits and PRASHAD- National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive provides central financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations/Central Agencies for development of tourism infrastructure in the country. The list of projects sanctioned under the above schemes along with the allotted amount during last three years and current year in North East Region including Assam is annexed.

(d): Ministry of Tourism has a comprehensive website for Incredible India, which promotes India in a holistic manner, including the North East States. The website has information on all the North East States and also has links to the tourism websites of respective North Eastern States, in the State segment of the Incredible India website.
