Question : TRAVEL WARNINGS



(a) whether a number of countries have advised their citizens against travelling to India;

(b) if so, the names of the countries thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(c) the steps taken / proposed to be taken by the Government to remove the misgivings of such countries?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The USA, the UK, France, Sweden, Austria, Italy, The Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Kuwait, Slovakia and Romania had issued advisories to their citizens not to travel to India citing the build-up of tension in the region.

(c) Our perception on the issue was conveyed to the foreign governments concerned, inter alia, through our Missions which had regular interaction with them and briefed them fully about the situation with a view to remove their misgivings.
