Question : DOUBLING OF LUCKNOW-BARAUNI RAIL LINE



(a) the status regarding doubling of Lucknow-Barauni railway line alongwith the funds spent, thereon so far; and

(b) the time by which the doubling of this railway line is likely to be completed and the total estimated expenditure likely to be incurred?

(a) & (b): On Lucknow-Barauni route via Barabanki, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Hajipur (513 km), doubling in 340 kms has already been completed. Further, doubling has been taken up in a length of 103 kms. Rs. 834.16 crore has been incurred on doubling of this route upto March, 2009. The project is progressing as per availability of resources.
