MINISTER OF STATE FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY ALLEVIATION ( SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA )
(a)to(c): The functional plan on transport prepared and approved by NCR Planning Board in 1995 envisages an organized
transport network to improve accessibility and the movement of
goods and passengers within the region. It has suggested
construction of seven expressways in NCR. Out of these
expressways, following three expressways are linking major
national highways for bypassable traffic coming from North,
South, East and West and provide a third ring around Delhi:-
(i) Peripheral Expressways on the Western side of Delhi connecting NH-1, NH-10, NH-8 & NH-2. It starts from
Kundli on NH-I in the North at the point from where the
Kundli-Ghaziabad Expressway starts, and cuts across NH-10
near Tikri Kalan on Delhi-Haryana Border and crosses NH-8
near Rajokri on Delhi-Haryana Border near Gurgaon and
finally meets the NH-2 near village Shahpur Khurd in
Faridabad-Ballabhgarh controlled area at
Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway juction (total
length 85 kms. approx.)
(ii) Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway connects NH-2 from Faridabad and NH-24 at Ghaziabad. It starts from
42.1 kms. milestone on NH-2 near Ballabhgarh, crosses
the Dadri Road near Hindon River Bridge (Noida) and
crosses NH-24 near Railway embankment at Ghaziabad (total
length 56 kms. approx.)
(iii) Kundli-Ghaziabad Expressway connects NH-2 at Kundli and NH-24 at Ghaziabad. It starts at Kundli on NH-1 in the
North near the proposed peripheral Expressway junction
and skirting Khekra, Rataul and Tronica City before
joining Ghaziabad on NH-24 at the junction of FNG (total
length 49 kms approx.)
These corridors will form a third Ring Road linking NH-1
to NH-2 via NH-24 & NH-58 on the Eastern side of Delhi and NH-10
& NH-8 on the Western side of Delhi. These proposals are at
preliminary stages and no firm decisions have been taken so far.
