Question : FLIGHTS BETWEEN BANGALORE AND OTHER CITIES OF KARNATAKA

(a) whether the Government have received any requests to operate Indian Airlines/Private Airlines flights to link major cities of Karataka with Bangalore;

(b) if so, whether any study of the air traffic potential in the region has been conducted;

(c) if so, whether the Government have agreed to start Indian Airlines operations from Bangalore to the other major cities of Karnataka; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a),(b),(c)&(d):- At present, only Mangalore is connected with Bangalore in Karnataka by Alliance Air and Jet Airways as per the following details:

Alliance Air:-	+	Chennai-Bangalore-Mangalore & Return	3 flights/week

(+The above flights are termporarily withdrawn w.e.f. 15.6.2002 to 30.9.2002)
Jet Airways :-
Bangalore-Mangalore-Bangalore	Daily

Due to commitment of fleet, Indian Airlines has no plans at present to airlink Bangalore with major cities of Karnataka.

Jet Airways had conducted market survey to connect Hubli/Belgaum/Mysore with Bangalore but due to commercial/technical reasons, operations on these routes are not found feasible. Further, airlines provide air services to specific places taking into consideration the traffic demand and commercial vialibity subject to compliance of route disperal guidelines.
