Question : Growth of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Sector

(a) the details of growth of the allied sectors (fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying) compared to food production growth in the on-going fiscal year compared to last fiscal year;
(b) whether the Government has taken any steps to improve the supply chain of allied sectors; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The average annual growth of allied sectors (fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying) during last five years (2015-16 to 2019-20) was 8.65% as compared to 3.21% average annual growth of food production during the same period.

(b) and (c): The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) with highest ever investment of Rs.20050 crore in all the States/Union Territories for a period of five years with effect from the current financial year 2020-21 for development of fisheries and aquaculture sector including supply chain. Besides, the Ministry is also implementing Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Fund, scheme for creation and strengthening of fisheries infrastructure including supply chain and Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) and Dairy Processing & Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) for creation of infrastructure including supply chain in Animal Husbandry and dairy sector.
