Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY ALLEVIATION ( SHRI BANDARU DATTATREYA )

(a)&(b): The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has informed that the flow of sewage to Sewage Treatment Plans (STPs) is partly obstructed due to settlement/silting of Trunk Sewers, resulting in, under-utilization of the sewage treatment capacity. However, the overall utilization of the capacity of STPs is 79% (1589 MLD) against the installed capacity of 2008 MLD.

The DJB has already prepared an Action Plan for desilting and rehabilitation of 91 KMs of the Trunk Sewers. After the completion of work on these Trunk Sewers, the position of capacity utilization of STPs will improve.
