(a) whether the Government have set up additional child labour courts/industrial tribunals and lok adalats to dispose of the cases relating to child labour expeditiously;
(b) if so, the details thereof during the last two years;
(c) the number of cases disposed of by the courts and the number of cases lying pending as on June 2003, State-wise; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government for speedy disposal of pending cases?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION No. 377 FOR ANSWER ON 18.08.03 REGARDING `CHILD LABOUR COURTS`.
(a) & (b): No, Sir. Section 17 of the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act, 1986 has empowered the State Governments and other appropriate agencies for enforcement of the Act. The Act prohibits employment of children under the age of 14 in certain occupations and processes contained in Schedule - A &B of the Act.
(c): The details are at Annexure.
(d): The State Governments are requested from time to time to pursue the cases pending in various courts vigorously.
