MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR MINISTRY OF STATISTICS AND PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION, MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINISTRY OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS [GENERAL (Dr.) V.K. SINGH (Retd.)]
(a) and (b): No.
(c): A request of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for conduct of a survey on disability during the period July, 2008 – June, 2009 was considered by the Steering Committee for National Sample Surveys in 2007 and 2009. The Steering Committee for National Sample Surveys noted that in light of change in concept and international requirement of data on disability, methodological issues relating to the survey on disability needed to be reviewed before conducting a full-fledged survey on Disability. Meanwhile, the enquiry on the subject of disability was included in the Population Census, 2011 with enhanced set of questions, results of which have been recently released. In light of these developments, survey on disability was not undertaken by the NSSO after 2002.
