(a) whether the Union Government has received some proposals to install hand pumps
in rural settlements of Tamil Nadu, under Prime Minister`s drinking water
programme;
(b) if so, the details thereof, and
(c) the time by which these proposals are likely to be cleared and funds allocated

(a), (b) and (c) Proposal of Government of Tamil Nadu for installation of
Hand Pumps under Prime Minister`s programme has since been cleared; and sanction
for installation of 2784 hand pumps by allocating Rs. 870.70 Lakh has since been
issued. 1st instalment of 50% of allocation has also been released.
