(a) the quantum of seeds produced by various States in the country including Gujarat, crop and State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the country is self sufficient in the production of quality seeds and is able to fully cater to the demand of domestic market;
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps taken by the Government to increase the production of quality seeds in the country?

(a) to (c): The details, crop wise and state wise of the total quantity of seed produced in the country (including Gujarat) are at Annexure-I & II. The country is self sufficient in production of quality seeds.
(d): To increase the production of quality seeds, the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare is implementing several crop development programmes/schemes, viz. National Food security Mission (NFSM), Bringing Green Revolution in Eastern India (BGREI), National Mission on Oil Seeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Mission on Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) and National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAET) – Sub Mission on Seeds and Planting Material (SMSP).
