Question : INDO-PAK DG LEVEL TALKS



(a) whether India and Pakistan have recently held talks at DG level;

(b) if so, the details of the discussion held between both of them; and

(c) the decision taken by the two countries in consequence thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI S. REGHUPATHY)

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The two sides discussed issues relating to, interalia, simultaneous coordinated patrolling, indiscriminate burning of Sarkanda (elephant grass), inadvertent crossings and joint verification of Border Pillars.

(c): Both sides agreed to carryout:-

i)	simultaneous coordinated patrolling effectively,	ii)	inform each other before burning of Sarkanda (elephant grass),	iii)	return innocent/inadvertent border crossers after due verification, and	iv)	to carryout joint verification of Border Pillars as per schedule.
