Question : Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package

(a) the number of ASHA workers and front line health workers who died in the line of COVID-19 related duty since outbreak of the pandemic till date, State/UT-wise including West Bengal;

(b) whether the Government has provided 50 lakh insurance coverage for the front line health workers of the country under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package; and

(c) if so, the details of families of ASHA workers and front line health workers who have been given the benefit of the said insurance coverage, State/ UT-wise?

(a) to (c): The total number of deaths due to COVID-19, including that of ASHA workers and front line health workers, State/UT wise, including West Bengal as on 29th November 2021, as reported by the States/UTs, is at Annexure-I.

‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP): Insurance Scheme for Health Care Workers Fighting COVID-19’ was launched on 30.03.2020 to provide comprehensive personal accident cover of Rs. 50 Lakh to health care providers including community health workers and private health workers who may have been in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and may be at risk of being impacted by this.

The details of ASHA workers and other front line health workers, whose families have been given the benefit of the insurance coverage, State/ UT-wise, as on 29.11.2021, are at Annexure-II.
