Question : NARAINPUR PUMP CANAL



(a) whether it is a fact that Narainpur Pump Canal is reportedly supplying less water than its original capacity;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether only 40 percent of the Narainpur Pump canal is reportedly in working condition and if so, the details thereof and the reasons behind nonfunctioning of the pumps to the full strength; and

(d) the measures taken to increase the water supply through this canal?

(a) to (c) Yes, Madam. The design discharge of system is 1440 cusec but the running discharge measured in recent time was around 880 cusec only i.e., around 60% of designs discharge capacity. The pumps have completed their expected life as per Central Water Commission guidelines.

(d) Works for replacement of electrical and mechanical equipments are to be attended by the State Government.
