(a) whether the Government of Bihar has sent a proposal for the acquisition of 200 acres of land for the AIIMS to be set up in Darbhanga in Mithila region;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which the foundation stone laying and construction work of AIIMS in Darbhanga is likely to commence?

(a) to (c) Land for setting up of new AIIMS under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) is provided by the concerned State/UT. Setting up of an AIIMS at Darbhanga was approved on the basis of commitment of the State Government to handover identified 200 acres of encumbrance free land, free of cost. Due to delay in handing over of the encumbrance free land by the State Govt., the construction work of AIIMS Darbhanga has not started.
